55+ ministry
lead by Pastor Bill and Kendal Adams
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all…”
1 Corinthians 12:4-7
Together we are the body of Christ and individually we are members called by Him to our own place and function!
If you are new to the group, you can expect a full house and a sweet time of worship & fellowship! It's like an old-time Sunday potluck with food, fun and friends!
Let’s follow our Mighty God wherever He leads! We are ready to explore the great adventures that abound in His Kingdom. The only equipment we need is our compass (the Word of God), a willing heart (to step into His calling), and a canteen filled with Living Water! So grab your gear and trust that He has a plan, even now, to direct your steps!
Serving Jesus Christ as we are called is our purpose, privilege, adventure, quest, and joy!
This is 55+! This is our mission.
55+ meets each month on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
On the second Sunday we bring appetizers and desserts, and on the fourth Sunday we bring salads, fruits,
and main dishes as well as desserts. If you’re able, bring a dish to share!
PAST EVENTS
Good Neighbors Event:
Good Neighbors!
Brought us the testimony of a life changing invitation to church and how neighbors can help point us to what it means to count it all joy!
We also were inspired by a Bob Goff video about blessing our neighbors.
Fall Fiesta Message:
Our Fall Fiesta message by Pastor Nelis shared what our God has been doing through CCGV around the neighborhood and around the globe to spread the good news of Jesus Christ! He shared videos of our Missions Team’s travels to Mexico, Watts, L.A., the Philippines, and Friends in the Desert!
Truth and Technology Event:
Truth and Technology brought Metro Detective Marc Evans to share about the latest scams and the steps we can take to avoid being a victim of fraud. This was also our Fall Favorites Potluck!
Love & Legacy Event:
Love & Legacy allowed us to explore living a life pleasing to the Lord. We heard an inspiring testimony from Grant Shaw and viewed the video from “Only Jesus” by Casting Crowns. We also enjoyed a potato bar!
Veteran’s Day BBQ Event:
Veteran’s Day was a full house with a fantastic courtyard barbeque and a beautiful salute to our military veterans. We had more than 100 people come out to honor those who faithfully served for our freedoms as Americans. We enjoyed a special time of worship followed by prayer led by a veteran from each military branch.
The Soup Event:
The Soup! was a cozy afternoon just prior to Thanksgiving, exchanging ideas on how to share Jesus with our families during the holidays through short testimonies and the love of the Lord.
55+ Christmas Event:
December brought our 55+ Christmas Party with the musical stylings of Marilyn and Danny Dunn sharing Christmas songs, carols, and worship! The afternoon also saw festive sweaters, Family Feud, and a whole lot of baked ziti and sweets!
Sunday Matinee Event:
Our Sunday Matinee rang in the new year with a movie, hot dogs, popcorn, and inspiration to live out our calling to share the good news of Jesus Christ at every turn!
Trivia Night:
We’ve played Trivia, worshipped the Lord with Marilyn, Danny and Peter, laughed, shared our favorite potluck dishes, prayed together, visited, hoped, and encouraged one another.
